Can DoorDash or Uber Deliver Furniture?

No.

DoorDash and Uber are built for restaurant orders, grocery runs, and small packages. Neither platform is designed to move a couch, a mattress, a dresser, or any item that requires a truck and two hands to lift. If you have tried to book one of them for furniture and hit a dead end, this is why.

Why DoorDash cannot deliver furniture

DoorDash drivers use personal vehicles, mostly cars and small sedans. Their service is designed around items that fit in a bag. The heaviest thing a DoorDash driver is expected to carry is a large takeout order.

Furniture does not fit in a car. A standard sofa is 7 to 8 feet long. A queen mattress is 60 by 80 inches. These items require a pickup truck, cargo van, or box truck. DoorDash has no category for large item delivery and no mechanism to match a customer with a driver who has the right vehicle for the job.

Even where DoorDash has expanded into package delivery through partnerships with retailers, the weight and size limits exclude furniture entirely.

Why Uber cannot deliver furniture

Uber Eats and Uber Connect are the two delivery options on the Uber platform. Uber Eats is for food. Uber Connect is for small packages, typically under 30 pounds and sized to fit in a backpack.

A couch weighs 100 to 350 pounds. A refrigerator weighs 150 to 300 pounds. A king mattress weighs 130 to 180 pounds. None of these fit the Uber Connect size or weight limits, and the drivers who take those orders are not equipped to move them.

Uber does not have a freight or large item category available to individual consumers. They have B2B freight services through Uber Freight, which is designed for pallets and commercial shipments, not a couch you bought on Facebook Marketplace.

What actually works for furniture delivery

The reason DoorDash and Uber get searched alongside furniture delivery is that people want the same experience: book from a phone, get it done today, pay a fair price. That experience exists for large items. It just isn’t DoorDash.

Truckbud connects you with vetted local drivers who have trucks. You enter pickup and drop-off, select the item, see the price, and book. The driver handles loading, transport, and unloading. Same day. Done from your phone in about two minutes.

What Truckbud is built for

Single items or small loads. If you bought something on Facebook Marketplace and need it picked up. If you bought a couch and the store doesn’t deliver. If you bought a treadmill from someone across town. If you got a dresser from IKEA and need it brought upstairs. These are the jobs Truckbud exists for.

Moving companies charge a minimum of $200 to $450 because they send two movers and a truck as a unit. Renting a van means you do the loading yourself. Truckbud sits between those two options. Someone else drives. Someone else lifts. You pay for one item, not for an hour of two movers standing around.
