How to Get a Large Item Delivered Without Renting a Truck
Book a driver who already has one.
Truck rentals are designed for people moving an entire apartment. If you are moving one piece of furniture or one large appliance, you are paying for a vehicle you only need for an hour and doing all the loading yourself. There is a better way.
If you are moving a couch specifically, see our guide to the cheapest couch delivery options in Winnipeg.
Your four options
Ask a friend with a truck
Cost: $0.
Still the cheapest option if you can pull it off. You need a friend with a truck, available on the day you need it, willing to help move something heavy. If that person exists and is free, use them.
If not, the next best paid option is not a truck rental.
Rent a truck or van yourself
Cost: $80 to $140, not including fuel.
Rental companies charge by the hour with a minimum block, usually two hours. Add fuel. Add the time to pick up the vehicle and return it. You are also loading and unloading yourself, which means you either need help or you risk injury doing it alone.
For a single item, this is usually the worst value among paid options. You pay for a vehicle and still do all the work.
Hire a moving company
Cost: $200 to $450 minimum.
Moving companies have minimums. They send two people and a truck as a unit. That is the right call for a full house. For one large item, you are paying for capacity you do not need.
Book a Truckbud driver
Cost: from $59.
A Truckbud driver shows up with their own truck. You enter pickup and drop-off, confirm the item type, see the price, and book. The driver loads, transports, and unloads. Inside delivery is standard. Same-day availability in most areas.

What can be moved
Furniture, appliances, mattresses, exercise equipment, office furniture, patio furniture, TVs and large electronics, building materials, and marketplace purchases. If it fits in a cargo van or pickup truck and it is legal to transport, it qualifies.

How the price is calculated
Distance is the biggest factor. Item type and size, service level (curbside versus inside delivery), and stairs all affect the final price. The price is always shown before you confirm.
